Owner/Provider

Hello, thank you for your interest in Daycare by Joy and considering me to love, care, educate and watch your child(ren)grow. Here is a little background about myself for you to get to know me.

My wonderful husband (Robert) encouraged me to follow my dreams and start my own business. Robert is a truck driver who has successfully been an owner/operator for many years. We have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Living in the home is my husband and I along with our twins, Ahmad and Amani. They are very artistic, well-mannered and compassionate young people with an amazing bond.

Before deciding to change careers to become an early childhood educator in 2018 and open my own family home daycare, I worked in pharmacy and grocery retail for 31 years. I have provided extraordinary customer service to people of many different cultures and backgrounds from the front end of the store to the receiving door and also the pharmacy. The most recent position held was the store manager of a pharmacy retail chain of which I had the pleasure of meeting, hiring, training and encouraging people from all different walks of life. I have mentored many and assisted in their careers within the company and beyond while developing long lasting relationships. Working in retail pharmacy, I was a licensed pharmacy technician both MD state and nationally. I have also held a CNA/GNA certificate in the state of Maryland. I have been a foster parent and taken many classes on child rearing and development provided by the Department of Social Services. Last but not least, I have experience in caring for children with asthma, allergies, ADHD, autism, learning disabilities and personality disorders.

As the owner/provider of Daycare by Joy, I believe all children should receive high quality, inclusive as well as affordable childcare that is safe and nurturing. All children are provided opportunities to interact with their peers in a developmentally appropriate environment that is welcoming of children of all abilities that offers a balance of child initiated and teacher directed activities.

Daycare by Joy promotes each child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. Daycare by Joy is committed to serving families and strive to give parents a sense of trust and a peace of mind. I am certified in Emergency Preparedness, CPR & First Aid, Medication Administration, Basic Health & Safety and Developmental Delays just to name a few. I will make the care and wellbeing of your child(ren) the top priority. Daycare by Joy is registered and published at a quality rating level 1 with Maryland Excels and also a member of the Maryland Family Network. I have partnered with The Care Center of Howard County and the Abilities Network (Baltimore County) which provides behavior specialists who works with parents and providers, perform observations to help decrease challenging behavior and supply resources to accompany those behaviors. Referrals and recommendations are then made for the betterment of the child.
